Worshipful Brother Alan Blackstone, P.Pr G. Reg, the Secretary of St Austin`s Lodge no 479 has recently been honoured by being elected as a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. |

This Society, the oldest antiquarian society in Scotland was founded in 1780 ,incorporated by Royal Charter in 1783 and has its headquarters in the National Museums of Scotland in Edinburgh. | |
Admission to the society is by election only and suitable candidates must be supported by two existing Fellows and following the publication of his latest book which evolves around a number of Scottish historical figures, Alan`s nomination was proposed by a former head of a Civil Service Department and a Scotsman. | |
Election's take place annually at the Annual General Meeting held on St. Andrews Day (30th November) when existing Fellows vote whether to accept a new fellow into the society and Alan was in attendance on the day meeting with the Director and Committee members of the Society after the meeting and receiving their congratulations. | |
